Twenty-five years later, three men – Paul, Frankie and Mike – decide to spend a few days of vacation in their hometown. There they hook up with their old pal Eddie, whose life is ruled by the seasons. He is the only one of them who never left the bay. Behind the summery setting, the proxigean tides are brewing: extra-high tides that cover the horizon, sometimes revealing strange concretions. As the dunes pursue their imperceptible march forward, swallowing up the present, they are also stirring up pasts and memories that seemed to have been forgotten.

Twenty-five years later, four old friends meet up for a week’s vacation near where they grew up: in Arcachon Bay. In a moment of folly, they decide to rob the jewelry store that loomed large in their childhood.
