Ma liberté si je veux
Ashley Taieb

For many years, I believed that loneliness was my lot in life. My desty, even. Despite the many people I met, despite the presence of loving people all around me, I always felt alone. A slave to my addictive impulses, I mistreated my body, first depriving it of then saturated it with food. I fell into using crack and was no longer in charge of my own life. I lived in a toxic bubble, cut off from the world and other people. What I was going through couldn’t be shared. Or at least, that’s what I thought.

My own relationship with the addictive impulse, in addition to my experience with all sorts of addicts, has led me to carve out a path that enables people to (re)take control of their own lives. That path is strengthened with modesty, absence of judgement, and lucidity, as well as with raising one’s self-esteem, -understanding, -love and -confidence. The goal: learning to live serenely with one’s addictive impulses, so as not to be subjected to them anymore, but to choose among them and design a new equilibrium.

This book is also the portrait of an entrepreneurial adventure, composed of surges, sudden stops and decisive encounters. It’s an immersion in an eminently complex topic that reveals the fact that whatever country, culture or socio-economic class we come from, we are all affected by addictive impulses. From there, the path makes it possible to move from the singular toward the universal, by modeling a method that can be used by anyone and everyone.
