Paul Rabinow teaches anthropology at UC Berkeley. Modernity is at the heart of his research. He is a product of the Michel Foucault school of thought, portraying, through the discourse, knowledge and practices of our times, the problems and transformations of the relationship we maintain with existence and the world. His research is now closely tied to biotechnological progress. Thus his recent publications in the USA are A Machine to Make the Future, and Anthropos Today: Reflections on Modern Equipment. His book French DNA was published in France by Odile Jacob in 2001. Along with Hubert Dreyfus, he is the co-author of Michel Foucault, a Philosophical Path (Gallimard, 1984)
