Virginie Maris

A young researcher at the CNRS (French National Scientific Research Centre), Virginie Maris studied biology before falling in love with philosophy. Her doctoral thesis (University of Montreal) brings a unique gaze to bear on biodiversity, drawing on both the philosophy of science and environmental ethics. First at the National Museum of Natural History and now at the Centre of Functional and Evolutive Ecology in Montpelier, she has pursued exceptional work based on philosophical fieldwork. Resolutely rooted in real life, her research is constantly enriched through dialogue with both scientists and others committed to conservation and biodiversity.
