Une guerre sans fin
Bertrand Leclair

It all started with a radio play about the Algerian War written by the author. Totally caught up in his investigation, Bertrand Leclair obtained a mission Stendhal in order to get to the Aures and Kabylie, on the trail of battle commandos, as well as to southern Algeria. There he learned about the tragic destiny of the irradiated in Reggane
Thus the historical context and its consequences imposed themselves as the heart of the plot of Une guerre sans fin. The narrator looks up an old friend, Thierry Lavergne, and is shocked to see the wreck this brilliant chronicler and successful author of a novel from the 90s has turned into in the span of less than 10 years. He eventually finds out that Thierry was caught up by his obscure and compromising past, which involves his father, a former SFIO activist. For months, he has been manipulated by someone he trusted implicitly, the very man who had inspired his first novel: David Berthon, a big-mouth who has been drowning in drink since he came back from Algeria in 1959 minus an arm. Why did David Berthon push Thierry to write his terrible story 40 years later? Political payback or romantic revenge? And what’s the connection to Thierry’s parents?
