Les perturbateurs endocriniens
La menace invisible
Marine Jobert, François Veillerette

Bisphenol A, phthalate esters, pesticides, DES in just a few decades, chemical molecules have invaded our daily lives. They may be invisible, but they are all around us: in the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink, and elsewhere… They are present in packaged foods, cosmetics, baby bottles, household cleansers, pesticides and more… Scientific studies show ever more clearly that these molecules are not innocuous; instead, they are at the root of many pathologies that stymie modern medicine: cancer, diabetes, declines in fertility, early puberty, etc. How do these substances work, and how is it that they disrupt our hormonal systems? When are we exposed to them, and is there any way to protect ourselves? What makes them so hard to apprehend and why does current legislation do so little to protect us from them? How many more generations of our descendants will be subjected to exposure to them? Our health is obviously at stake, but there are also huge financial and economic stakes as well. So endocrine disruptors pose a highly politicized problem. But because they explain a number of diseases and syndromes that are affecting many people, trying to eliminate them and to do without them is the first step towards a solution.

A problem that concerns all of us, and future generations as well.

An investigation that goes to the heart of our health-care system.

A militant book that explains the how and the why, and looks for solutions.
